The Perfect Saturday

The first weekend of March calls for some celebration. We’re almost through with winter and spring is on the horizon. While we may not be able to put away our winter coats just yet, we can start counting down the days until we wear our sandals and shorts. Here’s a hypothetical timeline for the perfect first Saturday in March:

It’s Saturday morning, and we wake up at 10:00 AM. Around 10:30 we head over to Saint Añejo for brunch. Though it’s tough to decide, we order the Dark Chocolate Waffles and 2-for-1 Bloody Marys. The restaurant is bustling and the atmosphere is hip and laid-back.

Around noon we drive over to 12 South. Our first stop is White’s Mercantile, where we pick up some Nashville souvenirs. The sun is starting to peek out, so we decide to keep walking, stopping in Imogene + Willie and Draper James.

Having walked up an appetite, we decide to try one of Sprinkles’ famous cupcake sundaes: a cupcake cut in half with ice cream in the middle. We choose their classic combination of a red velvet cupcake with red velvet ice cream.

We’re ready for some light exercise after our sweet Sprinkles splurge. Opting for a nice walk at Radnor Lake, we quickly put on our sneakers and drive over to one of Nashville’s most pristine natural landscapes. On our walk around the lake, we catch a glimpse of an owl resting in a tree.

After an eventful afternoon, we quickly get ready and make our way to the Avenue of the Arts for the First Saturday Art Crawl at 6:00 PM. The theme for this month’s exhibition is "Nashville Streets Then and Now," sure to please both new and veteran Nashvillians alike.

By the time 8:00 rolls around, we’re ready to get the night started. Making our way up the runway to Virago, we find ourselves a seat at the bar. Out comes a Wasabi Martini and an order of the Crispy Rice/Spicy Tuna. The watermelon pop rocks atop the appetizer crackle in our mouths as we take a sip of our savory-yet-sweet wasabi cocktail.

A few rounds of drinks later, we stop by Moto for their Chicken, Tomato Jam, and Fontina Pizza. The cheese melts perfectly in our mouths as we bite into the crispy and smooth crust.

After a quick stop at Acme, we lay our heads down to rest and look forward to the next day in the exhilarating city of Nashville.
